Interview with Claim.io Founders

I had the pleasure to interview the founders for a website and online service Claim.io.  Claim.io is a website and service to claim your name and your brand across all Internet platforms.  The service takes a specified username and registers you on over 300 sites on the Web.  It basically takes the load off of you and gets your name and brand on websites and networks very fast and for close to nothing.  It is a paid service, offering three different types of accounts.  The website registrations are done 100% by humans and your information is safeguarded.  Claim.io also offers an affiliate program, much like Amazon and Ebay.  More on the affiliate program is at the end of the interview.

So, I now direct your attention to the following interview with Claim.io founders Arron Kallenberg and Sara Czyzewicz.

  • Question: Simply put, what is Claim.io?

Answer: Claim.io, a service of Olive Interactive, LLC, secures your brand across 300 of the top social media and social networking sites. We register your vanity URL and username, as well as upload the initial content for your brand: logo or personal photo, biography, and a link-back to your website.

  • Question: What type of consumer is Claim.io targeted at?

Answer: Claim.io’s consumers range from individual professionals to small-to-large large businesses. Anyone with a name or brand worth protecting would benefit from Claim.io’s services.

  • Question: Who are the founders and what have been their previous projects on the Internet?

Answer: Arron Kallenberg and Sara Czyzewicz are the co-founders of Olive Interactive, LLC. Sara is a 10 year veteran of software strategy and development. She has worked with award-winning ad agencies and International R&D organizations building creative desktop and mobile solutions. She has a BA in Computer Science with honors, graphic design minor, and a New Media Certificate (ICPNM). You can find Sara on twitter as @Sara6633 and blogging on www.saraolive.com

Arron studied cultural anthropology at Western Washington University. In 2002, while still attending collage, he started his Kalbay Systems, a web-based application development firm. In 2006 he co-founded Villij.com, which, a year later, was accepted into the TechStars (a seed stage mentor-driven investment program based in Boulder, Co). You can find Arron on twitter as @Kallena.
  • Question: When was Claim.io founded?

Answer: Claim.io (previously called ClaimMyName) was launched in July of 2009. It branched off of Olive Interactive’s initial product, DandyID, which was founded in April 2008. Claim.io uses social media usages statistics collected from DandyID to distinguish the top social sites at any present moment.

  • Question: Where are your offices located?
Answer: Olive Interactive, LLC, was founded in Boulder CO in 2008. In 2009 it moved it’s headquarters to Providence, RI. Arron also works out of the VaynerMedia’s Tribeca office in New York, NY.
  • Question: I saw on the site that no bots are used in the process…how many people do you employ to register new users on the 300 services?
Answer: We’ve partnered with data processing and IT professionals to securely and efficiently fulfill Claim.io’s orders. As volume fluctuates, processing employs anywhere from 4 to 15 full time people.
  • Question: Are you looking to hire?  If so, is there a certain job site with postings?
Answer: We are currently looking for a PR, marketing & “buzz” guru to join our team. For more information on this exciting opportunity please email sara@claim.io.
  • Question: How is user privacy kept intact when handing over information such as names, birthdays, addresses, etc?
Answer: When registering for these sites, we enter the user’s personal information (name, birthday, address, etc.) only when it’s required to sign-up. Also, our data fulfillment partners securely store this information for processing the order; we don’t use any information past what’s needed to process an order, nor do we share your information in any way to third-parties.
  • Question: On the registration page, it states that your supplied email will not be used for registration.  Just curious on how the end user will then be notified of email alerts from certain services in the future.  How is ownership given back to the client?
Answer: We set up a separate email address, which we then use to register the client on all of the social networks. Once the order is complete, we give the client full access to the email account. The reason we don’t just use the clients regular email address is because their inbox would be inundated with registration email. Also, our processors often need to confirm sign up via email and a separate email address means you don’t have to give us access to your primary email account.
  • Question: Do you have a brief list or most popular list of the 300 services you are signed up for?
Answer: The following link displays a list of the 300 sites that we will attempt to register a client on: http://www.claim.io/welcome/listservices.  The list is read left to right and ordered based on the relative popularity of the sites. For the $129 price point we will register the first 100 sites, for $179 the first 150, and for $329 we will register all 300 sites. Please also note that we try to keep this list updated; but it may vary slightly from day to day depending on our popularity statistics.
  • Question: Will there be a free account offered at any time in the future?
Answer: It is a very time intensive process to establish a brand across hundreds of social networking site – therefore it would be very difficult for us to offer a free version of the service. However, we offer the lowest price-point for this service than most of our competitors.
  • Question: How long does it take to complete the 300 registrations per new user?
Answer: It takes approximately 5 to 7 business days to register a client on 300 sites.
Answer: Claim.io’s affiliate program gives individuals and businesses the ability to make money by advertising/communicating Claim.io to their preexisting sales channels and contacts. Claim.io offers an 18% payout on all sales, and provides a web-based interface to track sales and download promotional material to be used in marketing campaigns. I want to extend gratitude and much thanks to the founders of Claim.io for the opportunity to interview their service and I hope that you check out their website and begin claiming your name and building a personal brand on the Internet.  Claim.io.
